Property:

Sodium formate (Sodium acid sodium salt), it is also called Formic acid sodium or HCOONa dihydrate .HCOONa is the simplest organic carboxylic acid salt, white crystal or powder, with a slight formic acid odor. It has slightly deliquescence and hygroscopicity. It can asily dissolving in water and glycerinum, slightly dissolving in ethyl alcohol and octanol. It does not dissolve in diethylether, Its water solution is alkaline.

Uses:

Sodium formate is mainly used in making sodium hydrosulfite, oxalic acid and formic acid. In leather industry, sodium formate is used as catalyzer and stable synthetic agent. In dyeing industry, it is used as reductive agent. Sodium formate is harmless to human body, but it has stimulation to eye, respiratory system and skin.
